The Scenic Manistee River is a beautiful river with only a few houses nearby which gives the angler a very wild and natural experience.  The mighty Steelhead and Salmon have always been the big attraction. Most days there seems to be contests going on among the anglers in the boat to add to the excitement.  The untold story is that we have many species to catch in this wonderful river. May-August, the warmer months, are when the opportunities arrive. Last year, the Brown Trout were bigger than I have ever seen, adopting to a larger size limit in the past and planting a new strain have contributed to this success story.

Smallmouth Bass are very abundant and have caught these up to 22" long. Bass and Trout are  favorites of mine because they are great fighters and they are attracted to top water flies or lures. They will bite and grab sub surface lures working in sight of you. This is especially exciting as the Manistee River is so clear in most places. All popular fishing methods are endorsed and used in this ever changing business.
